Distribution Busbar
Universal Power Africa offers two distinct busbar solutions; (1) High Power Busbar – HPB&(2) Intelligent Medium Power Busbar – iMPB.
High power busbar (HPB) falls into two categories, namely; (1.1) Cast Resin Type &(1.2) Standard Type.
They are available in Medium Voltage, Low Voltage as well as DC Voltage applications.
Typically, Cast Resin is used in highly volatile explosive areas or outdoor applications that can include fully submersed environments.
The Standard Type busbar is generally used for indoor applications such as; (1) Distribution e.g. riser busbar with tap with offs, (2) Feeders e.g. between transformer and MDB, or (3) Specialized feeders (IP67).

Intelligent Medium Power Busbar (iMPB) is used in IT, Telecoms and Industrial environments security and flexibility is essential. It offers a continuous slot on a run of busbar to house tap off boxes. These tap off boxes are flexible by design and can be customized to the end user’s needs.
By design a distribution busbar offers so much more than the conventional distribution boards and wiring.
Here are some advantages that will turn a basic facility or plant into a professional and secure
DATA & TELECOMS FACILTIES | |
1 | Force structure for prime floor space utilization. Effective usage of White space = Max R/m². |
2 | Maximum floor space utilization. PDU’s move from the floor to the Roof or Under floor. |
3 | Remove the possibility of lazy contractor work leading to “Spaghetti” wiring. |
4 | Easy to increase the kW per cabinet. Swop the box or split the busbar. |
5 | Improve your airflow restrictions for better PUE’s. |
ALL APPLICATIONS | |
6 | Convert any location from 1P to 3P or back. Swop the box. |
7 | Phase balancing is simple & safe. Getting more from your circuits & source equipment. |
8 | No downtime required! Busbar keeps the servers ON. |
9 | Buy-As-You-Sign. Build the busbar infrastructure & add the initial tap off boxes required. |
10 | Then, only buy remaining tap off boxes as floor space is occupied. |
11 | Save on Electrician costs for future circuit alterations.
|
12 | Risk free circuit changes. Keep the fingers out and the power ON. |
13 | Simplify fault finding procedure. CB at the load. |
